Book 3 – Slight Delay

Hello, everyone! I have some bad news but I’m afraid I can’t avoid it. I need to delay the PDF release of Book 3: Blessed are the Children from tomorrow to Wednesday, February 26th. I am very, very sorry for the delay but some Real Life that will result in upcoming travel came up and I need the extra time.

I should have it out next Friday—and if it’s ready, I will release it—but I want to build in a buffer so I don’t need to delay again if I miss that date.

Again, my sincerest apologies for this delay.

Blessed are the Children Preview: Spirit Monsters

My apologies for the tardiness in posting the final preview this week! But here it is, a look at the monster chapter of Book 3: Blessed are the Children, including a look at some new monster rules and a hint of the nasty creatures that await inside the book’s pages.

In addition to the regular monsters every child faces, the blessed attract other types of nasty critters. These monsters will hunt regular kids as well but they have a particular tie or attraction to the blessed, whether it’s a need for all that sweet sweet Spirit, a twisted kinship with those whose body-soul connection are different than others, or an ability to home in on whatever it is that makes blessed children who they are.

Blessed are the Children Preview: Ghost World

Book 3 previews continue with a look inside the world seen through the eyes of a blessed child.

Blessed children glimpse another world that’s not the real one, not Closetland, and not the In-Between. It is, in fact, the world of the dead. Unlike Closetland, which is a dimension adjacent to our real world, or the In-Between World that exists in the gap between our world and Closetland, the World of Souls exists solely in our world. It appears as another layer, a second skin draped over our reality. People on the brink of death report glimpsing this world as their life fades from them but the blessed see it everyday.

Blessed are the Children Preview: The Faithful

I have three Book 3 previews in the hopper for this week. If you missed the preview of the Introduction, check it out here. Come back on Wednesday and Friday for new previews as well!

Lots of people believe in something greater, including many children. But the faithful feel something deep down in their bones—no, deeper than that. The feeling of someething else reaches through them and clutches their very soul. And by focusing on that connection, the faithful can unleash strange powers and take advantage of their Spirit in ways other kids cannot.

Book 3 Update and Cover Reveal

Hello, everyone!

First off, thank you very much for your continued patience as production continues on the latest Little Fears Nightmare Edition book. I wanted to give you all a quick update as to where things stand:

Writing: It’s going well! Day job has had some serious spikes in time dedication and energy but I’m putting as much time into Book 3 as I can. It’s coming along nicely. All the character chapters are complete and a good chunk of the world chapters are done. The biggest single chunk that remains is the included episode, “My Soul to Keep.” I aim to make it pretty scary.

Art: Everything that’s been commissioned for the interior has been in for a while though I might need one or two interiors to accent some of the additions. I don’t see anything major though.

Cover: In! Veronica Jones delivered a knock-out cover for the book. She continues to be the face of the line, and I’m really happy with what she delivered. Speaking of which, here’s the cover to Book 3: Blessed are the Children.

Inspiring Fear: “Scary Stories” Headed to the Big Screen

“Saw Writers Bring Your Little Fears to the Big Screen With ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’”

Don’t let that headline fool ya: It’s not talking about the game line.

It is talking about something that might be relevant to your interests though! Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, two of the guys behind the Saw franchise films are adapting Alvin Schwartz’s classic short story collections, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark to the silver screen.

I own an omnibus edition of the three books and I adore it. If you haven’t read the tales, or haven’t for a while, I encourage you all to pick up a copy. It’s rife with Little Fears inspiration and the illustrations by Stephen Gammell are wondrously horrific.

Little Fears Dice are Back!

I’m going to place an order for the Little Fears dice sets soon and figured I’d offer up others the opportunity to grab some sets. A set includes ten six-sided dice that are black with gold lettering. In lieu of a 6, these dice sport the signature butterfly icon of Little Fears Nightmare Edition. You can check out the pictures below and click on the button to order some sets.

I’m going to keep this running until next Monday, November 18th, after which I’ll place the order for the dice. Turnaround should be 6-8 weeks.

How Many Sets?

Book 3 Update

Hello, everyone!

I wanted to update you all on the progress of Book 3. Writing is going well. I should be wrapped up by mid-month. Then it’ll enter the edit process for refinement, typo fixing, etc. I’ll start doing chapter previews here soon so you all can see what to expect in the book.

I still have art coming in (some of which you can see at the end of this update) but there have been some significant delays on that front. Namely, some serious Real Life things have pushed the cover back which is why I haven’t revealed it yet.

The Kickstarter surveys have all come in. I’m currently compiling them and following up about add-ons so I can get a figure on the dice. Then I’ll put in the order (and possibly do a public order option if there’s interest).

So that’s where things are at for now. If you have any questions, please drop a comment. Enjoy the art below!

Clubhouse News: Tangles the Monster

Frequent Protodimension editor (and contributor) Tad Kelson adds another monster to the Little Fears mythos!

Tangles is a Regular Monster for use with your Little Fears Nightmare Edition games. Check out this description:

All those times your mother brushes your hair and pulls it, tearing out a tangle. Then
she throws that hair away in the trash. Well at night Tangles comes around and sifts in
your trash and pulls out the hair and slowly braids it into its own body. All those children,
all their hair, all that innocence pulled out by their roots and woven into something that
slithers along the floorboards making its way to the trash can, just to pick out their tangles
and turn it into its own body.

Wonderful. Check out the full write-up in the latest issue of Protodimension, available in PDF right here.

Thanks, Tad, for the creation! Really well done.
